This is just a recompiled port. I’ve seen many ask for this to be updated.

Currently, there is an issue with the RAM cleaner running only when you enter the settings menu. This means that in order to prevent Tarkov from using too much memory, you need to remember to enter the menu every few minutes in raid. In order to alleviate that, this mod allows you to set custom intervals for running the RAM cleaner automatically.

TLDR; BSG’s built-in memory cleaner ONLY runs when Esc is pressed (aka when you enter the pause menu in-raid). This mod aims to make it run the way it should run - on a second-based interval.

Usage (F12)

  • Interval enabled - unchecking this check box will disable this mod - the RAM cleaner will run normally, as if the mod wasn’t installed.
  • Interval (seconds) - how frequently the RAM cleaner should be executed. The default is set to 300 seconds, which means that the RAM cleaner will run every 5 minutes.
  • Clean now - pressing this button will execute the RAM cleaner immediately
  • Only in raid - by default, this mod will run RAM cleaner only in raid. Disabling this checkbox will also run the intervals outside of raid as well

FYI This mod triggers the Windows API EmptyWorkingSet which, while poorly documented, is understood to just forcibly page all active memory in a process to disk via the page file. Memory that is still needed is then read from disk back into RAM. Obviously this has a slight performance impact compared to just leaving the virtual memory alone to do its thing.

The only reason this mod shows lower memory usage in Task Manager is that Task Manager does not show page file usage. The actual virtual memory load of the process is not meaningfully changed. This is the same effect as the built-in RAM Cleaner option in game settings.

Using this mod will not help performance unless there are very specific circumstances for your system where having RAM available for other processes is beneficial and/or you are not worried about page file usage.

IMO, this mod should only be used to avoid crashes.

The plugin needs to go into the BepInEx folder in the game’s root folder, not in SPT.

No, keep it on. The mod only runs if the option is actually enabled

Is this only for people with 8-12-16 GB ram or is it usefull for people with 32+GB ram too?

I have 32 and I benefit from it. Memory leaks don’t discriminate lol

If you have below 16 it’s questionable if you can even play the game in the first place. If so I would suggest putting it on a 1-2 minute interval instead of 5.

Ok so I am fine. Only issues with SPT I had was when I had not closed Firefox with many tabs so it took a bit of my RAM. And also had issues with using debug modes for some mods that made RAM slowly filled up untill game CTD. But it was when I was long in raid which in my case are set to more than 60 min.

Yeah, this mod will help you regardless. All it really does is ensure BSG’s memory cleaner runs on a set interval, nothing else.

How does this differ to the built in ram clear on open inventory included in 3.10?

This simply activates BSG’s own built-in ram cleaner on the set interval. SPT’s was one the SPT devs had to implement themselves manually.

Then do we still click/check the in game box for the ram cleaner as well as yours? Does it matter? Thanks

RogueTech67 Yes. The mod runs on an interval, but it will only run if BSG’s setting is “enabled” in settings.

Hello. My game constantly crashes due to virtual memory overflow. The option to automatically clear RAM in the game settings does not help. Your mod does not solve the problem either. Neither Process Lasso nor ISLC fix the situation. My system has 32 GB of RAM. With the system swap file disabled, the game does not even start. With the 32 GB swap file enabled, the game works exactly until it is full. At the same time, the game takes up no more than 12-15 GB of RAM, that is, more than half of the RAM is always free. So I do not understand why the RAM is free and not used by the game and at the same time the game completely devours the entire system swap file until the game crashes. Why does this happen, can you please explain to me?

All this mod does is trigger the function to clear RAM. It’s just an interval setting. Your problem sounds like there’s more to it than just this mod not working. I would advise reinstalling and figuring out what’s going on with your PC

Thanks guys! I understand that this mod is not the issue. I also understand that I am asking in the wrong place. I just assumed that this thread has experienced people on RAM and how it is used by the game. Thanks for responding and sorry for bothering you.

I know that RAM can cause all sorts of issues. Unfortunately I am not particularly well versed in the depth of issues it causes. I would help you if I could, but I’ve never really had RAM related problems sadly.

Try a RAM related gaming subreddit, it might help you further. SPT Discord also might help, but I cannot guarantee it

see im not crashing, but im getting massive pagefile bloat even after 1-2 raids, often times i have to restart my computer to get the space back on my ssd after every session with this game.

ForeskinJohn Are you sure this mod is the issue? When using this mod, I rarely get more than 15-20GB usage for SPT at all, and my pagefile is not a problem for me. It sounds to me like you have something else going on.

i had the same issue as the guy below but since adding more mods, My memory got incredibly bloated before the ram cleaner interval initialised during matching, to the point of crashing. BUT this may just be a hardware thing as im sure this works for some, my computer is below mid tier anyway.

What specs in specific? I run a 5800x3d x 4060 Ti (temp) x 32GB ddr4, and I can’t recall this mod ever giving me any stutters. The only stutters I get are usual stutters every now and then. Memory is fine for me, since this mod does what it’s meant to do.

Generally, yes, the lower tier your PC is, the more the ram cleaner might affect you. It, too, has to use resources in order to clear them. But it shouldn’t be as bad as DarthCat’s, since 1-2 seconds is a pretty big deal. That might be a combination of mods working in tandem.

I use Mem reduct and if you uncheck cleaning of “working set (vista+)” stutters stop, but ram is still not being cleaned and modded tarkov eventually bloats itself untill it crashes, before unchecking/exiting memreduct i also had stuttering issues adding mods like amands graphics and svm and ram cleaner and performance improvements. Also i have spt 3.5 modpack and on factory i get 100+ fps when in 3.10 i cant even get 40 with bot limiting and everything set on performance/lowest settings/fsr3 and also ui stutters/item dragging gets ignored, no hardware changes, i guess the game update is just that bad.
Edit: i used this guide and it made game run better and ui lag decreased
FPS Boost. Boost framerate with command line in boot.config.

Thanks for that info, I disappeared for a but, willing to try this mod again on spt 3.10 but i have feelings that this is problematic for 1050ti 16GB RAM

16GB is pushing it, but possible. I would suggest Process Lasso’s SmartTrim memory cleaner + Ram Cleaner Fix in tandem. I rarely push over 6-10gb used with Tarkov

I play on 16 RAWR and AMD 4600h with RAWRdeon graphics, i have 20 FPS on customs.

for some incredibly weird reason this makes my game freeze for 1-2 seconds anytime anyone shoots, i really dont know why

Don’t think it has anything to do with this mod, unless you can provide logs that specifically mention this mod. All this mod does is run the original BSG-designed ram cleaner when it’s meant to. Your issue sounds like it’s related to bot combat. Check your client and server logs and see what pops up.

the thing is after removing this, everything was fine, i do have 40 something mods installed so maybe something was conflicting with this? im not sure
