ZeroToHero+ is not enough? Want some more spice when starting your hardcore/Z2H SPT playthrough? This is a possible solution for you.
UPDATED to 1.0.6. - updated to work with SPT 3.11 & an itty bitty code refactor, courtesy of Apex Predator. Cheers.
Inspired by Zero to Hero+ by waffle.lord, this mod adds various presets, mainly based around EfT preorder packages.
What does VHS do exactly?
- It adds 4-6 various presets, 4 of which are based on EfT preorder packs;
- It uses assets from Unheard Update Item Preview by Pettan if set to in config and if available; it used to use Pettan’s mod, irrelevant starting from 1.0.2/SPT 3.9 onward;
- It does not attempt to be too much hardcore, as it gives you some starting capital
- It has some presets with unusual pocket sizes (one of which is more of a cheat preset in my book);
- It can disable all other base SPT presets if you so desire (I did, so I’ve set it up);
- It allows you to use Dev, Sherpa, Emissary account icons if you so desire;
- It allows you to choose between basic or usual stash per preset.
First thing I’d do in Z2H is sell a knife to get a gun and 7 bullets JW-esque, so a tiny bit of money that may last you for up to 2-3 raids is not precisely an insane start, a tiny bit forgiving one instead. If you’re playing with SAIN and secure container restrictions, you’d know that just one chance is not always sufficient.
What are the presets in this mod?
(bold - always on, italic - toggleable)
- Standard Edition preset - a bayonet, 30k RUB, Alpha secure container, 10x30 stash;
- Prepare to Escape preset - a Voodoo tomahawk, 40k RUB, Beta secure container, 10x50 stash;
- Edge of Darkness preset - Alpha armband, Kiba tomahawk, 50k RUB, Gamma secure container, 10x68 stash;
- TUE preset - TUE armband, TUE kukri, TUE pockets, Cultist’s robe, 75k RUB, Cultist Gamma secure container, 10x68 stash;
- The Axeman preset - TUE armband, antique axe, 15k RUB, LIKE waist bag, smaller pocket size (2 1x1 slots, 1 SPEC slot), 10x40 stash;
- The Boss preset - Kappa & Kappa armband, taiga, TV-109 sized pockets with 1 SPEC slot, 1kk RUB, 10x68 stash (I don’t even know why I did it, prolly a PoC thing)
Settings that can be adjusted in config file (located in ../config/config.json) - default values below:
Installation: Drop the folder from the archive to SPT installation folder. If there’s a ‘VariousHardcoreStarts’ folder instead of ‘user’ in the root of the archive, unpack it to ../user/mods.
Sincerely hope it’s fun for you, and not a useless junk of code. Cheers!
Mods I’d advise along VHS:
Special thanks goes to:
- Jiblet and waffle.lord - for cargo pants and Z2H+ respectively, these inspired me to bother for a few days to do this mod in the first place (and to try and make horizontally scaled pockets, too
);
- Pettan - for the Unheard items preview;
- Gleneth- for helping me find out how to enable account icons and TUE background.
His insights proven invaluable, they also allowed me to enable other account icons (Dev, Sherpa, Emissary) in settings as well as suggested me to set stash upgrade in hideout to avoid any possible stash size issues after its upgrades. - WildShpee - he wished to set lvl 1 stash to TUE preset, thus gave me the idea of UseBasicStashes config option.
- And most importantly, you, who uses my mod. It’s nice to know I am not the only one who finds this thing useful.

Just was told of an A/V flag on the file. Here’s the VirusTotal check. Also attached to relevant file desc. field.

This version is for SPT 3.9
- Added EnableExtraIcons option to enable Dev, Sherpa, Emissary icons for all the new presets;
- Added Killa tracksuit to The Boss Edition;
- Set EoD and TUE to include related icons and backgrounds; *presumably* this means dog tags, but requires confirmation.
- Set relevant stash levels in Hideout per preset (I didn’t do it before, and it may have caused your stash to become smaller upon upgrade in theory)
This update’s brought to you by Gleneth. Thanks for helping with research

- Fixed wrong stash sizes per start - I missed out on it, and it used to be EoD one always;
- Fixed an error where a few of profiles caused seemingly random errors due to a small issue in corresponding JSON files.

Would it be possible to somehow make a preset that starts you with nothing but a random loadout and upgraded stash? Emphasis on *random* loadout…
Is it possible to edit the stash sizes for each individual start?
For instance, I am trying to set the stash size in the unheard-edition hardcore to level 1, but despite my changing it from lvl 4 in both the mod.js and mod.ts files, when I launch this start, the stash is still level 4.
Exactly what i was wanting for my TUE playthrough!!
Is there anyway to fix where my player icon can be TUE instead of Default. There is no options to switch icons in the option menu. No options for EOD or TUE name.
Dig the mod, thanks for making this. I’m gonna tinker with it and see if I can get it to work after updating to 3.9.X and report back for others that might be interested.
I also made a john wick profile (m1911a1, 5x .45 ACP Match, EC Bayonet, Analgin) so if anyone wants that profile I can comment the json file info below this comment.
love the idea, was it difficult to change a starting preset? I want to create a custom starting preset of my own
This is a great mod idea. I’ll be checking this out when I wipe in a few weeks.
