SPT 3.10.5 Compatible

Resolution, refresh rate, zoom and distance patch to make thermal scopes behave like their IRL counterparts.

Latest Version 1.2.0
SPT 3.10.5

Updated Feb 7, 9:31 PM

Version Notes
  • Removed rolling scanline effect on FLIR, Echo1 and Zeus.
  • Fixed REAP-IR aim sensitivity and displayed zoom values.
This download is externally hosted.
Always scan for viruses.

Updated to real-life resolutions (pixelated effect value is taken from vertical resolution instead of horizontal like Borkel did), refresh rates and adjusted HARD thermal cut off range from 250m to 1000m (but there is still natural BSG depth thermal fade). Also matched crappy digital zoom quality degradation. Removed rolling scanline effect on FLIR, Echo1 and Zeus.

Changes:

  • FLIR RS-32: 21 Hz -> 60 Hz and 172px -> 240px resolution at 2.25x and 60px at 9x.
  • SIG Sauer ECHO1: 10 Hz/21 Hz -> 30 Hz and 172px -> 156px resolution at 1x (this is a nerf) and 78px at 2x. Buffed and matched thermal falloff range in purple mode.
  • Torrey Pines Logic T12W: 10 Hz -> 30 Hz, 30px -> 60px resolution
  • Armasight Zeus Pro 640: 21 Hz -> 30 Hz, 172px -> 512px resolution at 2x and 128px at 8x.
  • Trijicon REAP-IR: now has two zoom modes - 1.2x and 9.6x, only black pallete, 35 Hz -> 60 Hz, 228px -> 480px resolution at 1.2x and 60px at 9.6x.
  • MP-155 Ultima thermal camera: 15 Hz -> 30 Hz, 135px -> 240px resolution

Used AssetBundleExtractor 3.0beta1 to adjust ScopeThermalVisionData and ScopeCameraData directly.

  • after some research, huge nerf to all zoom scopes, now crappy digital zoom is properly emulated (yes, they do look like crap IRL too), eg.:
    – SIG Sauer ECHO1: 1x - 156px, 2x - 78px
    – Armasight Zeus Pro 640: 2x - 512px, 8x - 128px
    – FLIR RS-32: 2.25x - 240px , 9x - 60px
    – Trijicon REAP-IR: 1.2x - 480px , 9.6x - 60px

I love this mod but I only have one gripe. I agree that the scopes should have lower resolutions when zoomed in, because that’s how thermal sensors work. But the current implementation of this is incorrect. I made an example of what I mean in photoshop below. The image is low resolution, but the pixel overlay doesn’t change sizes/resolution, so the image is easier to see and truer to life. The current implementation makes it look like a lens is put in front of the screen to zoom in, instead of digital zoom.

Yeah, I know. But adjusting BSG pixel mask shader is out of scope of my skills, so this will have to do.

would it be possible for me to make the t12 a little more zoomed in at all, sorry if this has nothing to do with the mod, I saw something about zoom so I’m going with that

I highly recommend Fontaine’s FOV fix mod for a bit of additional zoom. You can use a toggle button to give you a bit extra FOV zoom whenever ADS’ing or even w/o scoping in Check it out.

I know, I use fov fix, but when I use the t12, the fov on the t12 itself is too wide and I can’t see anything, making it virtually unusable to me, I was just wondering if there would be a way to zoom in only the t12

would be nice if scopes wouldn’t have a moving crosshair - irritating and not realistic.

Reap-ir should have some edited db thing, like:

itemsData[5a1eaa87fcdbcb001865f75e]._props.Zooms[0] = [9.6, 1.2]; //zoom displayed in lower right corner. True zoom is x5.8 - x0.7

itemsData[5a1eaa87fcdbcb001865f75e]._props.AimSensitivity[0] = [0.112, 0.93]; //sensitivity change. Calculated based on true zoom.

how did you calculate the sensitivity?

0 Likes

and what do you mean by moving crosshair?

1. Measure how much the view is magnified/reduced compared to the unzoomed view. FovFix can prevents change fov during zoom. From my observations, the view magnified is x5.8 - x0.7.

2. We find out how much fov is magnified in the float value. I don’t know how to do it, but often for pip sights it is from 0.75 to 0.65 - lower is less fov. Let’s say for this sight it’s 0.65.

3. calculate:

fovZoom / trueMagnification = sensResult.

0.65 / 5.8 = ~0.112 for x5.8 zoom

0.65 / 0.7 = ~0.929 for x0.7 zoom

notes: in this scope first values is zoomed i.e. it need be first 9.6.

Moving crosshair in FLIR but i also saw this in ECHO1 in white-hot mode. The easiest way to show it is on Video. Better Thermals had this ability.

ahh, the moving “scanline”. removed it, packing a new version

ODT, how do I get zoom to work on the REAP-IR? I have tried smooth scroll alt+zoom optic key like on the LPVO’s from 1-6x as well as the “switch optic” key that I normally use between an RMR and 4x fixed optic.

Only the black color mode changes back and forth… no zoom happens.

0 Likes

It’s “switch scope magnification” shortcut, smooth zoom doesn’t work.

0 Likes

thank you, but I tried that as mentioned above… I even rebound the keys in reverse, double click vs press, and then went to raid with two MCXs one with 1-6x LPVO and one with REAP-IR, the LVPO zoomed as usual on “press” of “switch scope magnification”, but the REAP-IR just went from black color to the other black/green color at 2.25x magnification.

you sure you installed it correctly and no other .bundle files overwrite the reap-ir file? do other scopes seem to work?

Thank you for replying! All other scopes work as intended. Here are the other mods installed:

SPT 3.10.5 and latest FIKA core + dedicated
SAIN+MOAR+Looting+Questing
That’s Lit + Sync
Algorithmic Level Progression 5.4.3 (maybe the issue?!)
Borkel Realistic Night Vision
ODT Item Info
and various UI fixes / weather fix / continuous healing / SSH fueling mod / left stance wall fix

Try modifying the load order with load order editor so this mod is the last one

Thank you again, that was already done during the initial mod install.

ODT, the weirdest thing… I shut down the server and client and FIKA dedicated, then restarted all three back up… let everything load the same… no change…. BUT… then I added a DeltaPoint on 45* offset mount and suddenly the REAP IR is locked in the BLACK color, and can switch zoom with the “scope magnification switch” key press and also swap to the offset with the “switch between sights” key press.

Thank you again for making a great mod!

probably yet another FIKA shenanigan
