Extremely lightweight mod that checks if a bot is friendly or hostile. The identification process takes a short amount of time, and takes longer if the bot is far away. Once a bot is identified, it will remain identified for roughly a minute; lose it for too long, and you’ll have to re-identify.

Due to the jank of how Tarkov builds its levels, you might be able to identify bots though certain small structures, details, etc. that would theoretically block your LOS. This was preferable to the identifier not working in places with a perfectly clear LOS due to a horribly constructed LowPolyCollider.

Fixed many things.

Realigned the raycast, it should be almost perfectly in the center of your screen now. DOES NOT ACCOUNT FOR SCOPE SWAY! Someone much more knowledgeable is welcome to make a better Raycast sender on the Github

Added some text displays:

-If the target is further than your identification range (This might be why some of you believe the mod wasn’t working… previously, the raycast would just stop entirely if the target was too far away. This shouldn’t happen anymore.)

-If foliage is blocking your ability to detect enemies

We skipped 1.1.1 for some reason. Oh well.

-Possibly fixed some issues with the plugin, especially related to the hideout

A few significant changes in this version based off feedback. Please read carefully so as not to be confused:

1: Your character’s Attention, Perception, and Search skills now affect the identification in various ways:

-Attention lowers the base time it takes for identification to be completed (0.7 - (Attention / 100), so a level 30 attention skill sets the base timer to 0.4 seconds)

-Perception lowers the distance penalty (bots that are far away take more time to identify, by default each meter adds roughly .015 seconds. A higher Perception skill lowers this factor)

-Search increases the max range of the identifier (100 + (Search *2), so at level 30 search the range is set to 160 meters)

-At max attention, identification within 15 meters is instantaneous.

-At max perception, the penalty for distance is halved on top of the level bonuses (Long distance is basically ignored at this point).

-At max search, the range is multiplied by 1.5 (making max range 304 meters at level 51, which is elite. Thank you BSG for making the level caps 51.)

2: To accompany these changes, the base (“level 0”) times have generally been increased. Base time is now .7 seconds instead of .5, though distance is slightly less taxing. However…

2.1: Within 15 meters, identification time is halved

3: Refined the Raycast and Layermasking. While still not perfect, identification should generally be more reliable. (Currently as well as previously, the ray is based off the center of your screen. Due to how Tarkov simulates weapon movement, the exact middle of your sight is rarely the exact middle of your screen. Generally speaking, in my limited testing, this isn’t that big of a deal… just know that if you can only see a tiny bit of an enemy or if you’re being shot, identification will probably be difficult.)

4: Added a “Losing Target…” when the ray falls off a bot, to make it much more clear when you are or are not actually identifying a bot or not.

Please provide ideas or changes for the next update! This is a fun mod for me, I enjoy working on it

This mod is fantastic! Has anyone had any luck making it work with SPT-VR?

I’m going to keep an eye on this and see if you expand it. It would be cool if there were options on how long it takes to identify, maybe a friendly only mode that is instant. I also think it could do with a non-text version that just shows a green or red dot, maybe?

Version 1.1.2 Doesn’t work correctly, it only registers and identifies if my view is blocked by foliage, it won’t ID any bot whatsoever, no matter the distance or time waited.

Would this theoretically work with the mod Friendly PMC? Ie, those you enter raids with and the faction you set to friendly because you’re the same faction. I like the mod, but dislike myself for not knowing the difference between Bear and Usec from afar.

PS, in the video it’s quite slow for the mega sweaty bots. If you use this against the wrong target, you’ll end up 6ft fast. As for the hostile and friendly, what if instead of saying that and identifying, make it a white dot when you hover, red for hostiles and green for friendlies. Or maybe even scrap the identifying and have it be super fast to either red or green.

Ok, so many people are saying 1.0.0 is working but 1.1.2 isn’t that I’m going to redownload 1.0.0 myself and rebuilt 1.1.2 into it. Clearly I broke something horribly and restarting is a good play

Great mod nontheless, thanks from fellow Scavs!

When I was playing 1.0.0 it was working fine, but when I updated to 1.1.2 the place to where I have to look would be 1m to the left in order to identify. So, the point

Strange… I’ll look into it. Thank you for actually providing a description of your problem

Really like this mod. It could really use some settings menu though (such as options for disabling this feature while playing as PMC instead of Scav, timing of the scans, etc).

Noted. I might add some things. I’m not actively working on this mod, as it’s complete by itself, but if I want a break from Guiding Light or Quests Extended, I might add a deeper config here

When I replaced the 1.0.0 file with 1.1.0 file, the mod didn’t work in the game, and when I replaced the file with a 1.0.0 file, the mod worked again

Ok… are you getting any specific errors in 1.1.0? Can you share those errors with me?

[Info :LightsAutomaticIdentiier] Match started, Identifier is attatching to the player. We are additionally gathering current Attention and Perception levels.

[Info :LightsAutomaticIdentiier] IdentifierManager2 attached to the main player.

[Info :LightsAutomaticIdentiier] Attention level was listed as 39, Perception level was listed as 39, and Search level was listed as 50. Adjusting identification times accordingly.

[Info :LightsAutomaticIdentiier] Logging set values: Duration is 0.31, distance mult is 0.1, and range is 200

I have this in my log, but it doesn’t show any text when I target PMCs or SCAVs during raids. It was loaded, but I couldn’t see the text in the raid like when I was using the 1.0.0 version file

I have a few other mods that show text on the screen, maybe one of them overwrites or squeezes out the text, I guess?

No errors at all? That’s concerning, then… I’ll try to look at it tomorrow, I just don’t really know how to help when it works for me and my only information is “it doesn’t work”
