Mod Info

Introduction

Tarkov’s recoil feels kind of bland and weightless. This (relatively) lightweight mod aims to make recoil punchier by tweaking some recoil values. While I am open to suggestions, this mod is ultimately shaped by my own preferences and is thus highly opinionated around what I would like Tarkov’s recoil to look and feel like. Feature requests are always welcome.

I encourage you to play around with various settings to see what suits you.

Preview

Somewhat outdated and not the best example of what’s possible with this mod. I’ll get around to making a better preview someday.

Installation

Drag and drop. Like any other mod.

Known Issues

  • Left stance pistol recoils look broken because vanilla left stance is wack. Pushed a temporary “fix”, but it’s still janky.
  • Pistol (real) recoils are weird. Just reduce the multipliers if needed
  • The occasional NullReferenceException. If you see any let me know.

Realism

Realism & Recoil Rework

This mod is largely incompatible with Realism Mod’s recoil changes and causes weapons to go flying all over the screen when fired due to how Recoil Rework works. Because of this I would recommend not using this mod alongside Realism. Besides that Realism’s gunplay is great as is (thx fontaine)

However, if you REALLY want to use this mod with Realism then make sure to either edit the Recoil Rework config or disable Realism’s recoil changes within its server config. Good luck!

Hello, I would like to know if you are interested in trying to create another alternative recoil. This time related to the implementation of recoil in the style of 12.11 with an initial recoil toss and subsequent soft auto-compensation? (For reference, that recoil was very pleasant, it was spoiled in 12.12 by forcibly increasing it to 25% for all weapons and until patch 14 there was practically no attempt to correct the situation.) If so, I will be happy to help with materials for any request for a video for clarity.

Well… it is actually, I adjusted a lot of the values and it works well enough. I just wish I could enable automatic recoil reset on the regular “real recoil” and not the alternate one

Using realism beta 3. Maybe talk to Fontaine to implement all the settings/mod ? I imagine many people will shift to realism.

It works you just need to reduce recoil position backwards quite a bit, and reduce recoil in general.

Regarding the new alternate spring based real recoil option: Is there a way to configure it so that the “zero” moves up with each shot rather than staying the same at the start of a “burst”? I like how one shot returns to its original position, but if you hold the trigger down, the barrel will stop rising at a certain point and just stay in that area until the magazine empties.

recoil still insane even after deleting config, 1.7.1 recoil was perfect, i would understand this recoil if you could pull down easily like in realism or insurgency sandstorm

even with the new config setting i added? (1.7.2 Recoil Values, vertical mult 2.0, horizontal mult 0.7, default category multipliers)

well the 1.7.2 recoil text box said other wise (4.0 vert, 0.6 hor), tried it again with your numbers and without tweaking the numbers with 1.7.2 checked, it is good but the 1.7.1 version felt better to shoot, maybe its just placebo or maybe its harder to pull down your mouse to counter the recoil in this version?

could be placebo because the setting makes the mod use the exact same value for real recoil as 1.7 did. ill double check it later

dont think its placebo, its 1.9.0 has recoil going up in a vertical line like in insurgency if you dont control it, while 1.7.1 doesnt go up as fast, is easier to control (pull down) and goes more around a circle of the target zone, which feels smoother for me

Hmm, clicked on “Reset” on “Real recoil vertical mult” + “Real recoil horizontal mult” and values changed on this 2 options, became much more enjoyable

Recoil is insanely high in hideout and raid, still. Removed config file, reinstalled, tried some previous versions, nothing works.

I’m also not sure if your footage is just good recoil control or not, and that I am just misinterpreting this mod as a rework rather than a difficulty increase. Would be helpful if you full sprayed without controlling as a baseline example.

For reference though, whenever I shoot 1 shot of a pb pistol at the back middle target’s head in firing range, it recoils to slightly above the wall, with like 20 degree horizontal recoil sometimes, which seems pretty ridiculous.

New update is the same as 1.8.0, but just enabling “use 1.7.2 recoil values” makes recoil behave like what I can assume is normal, because it doesn’t match 1.7.2 which was also bugged, and it’s enjoyable.

That’s without following the extra steps in the description though, because when I do, it goes back to 1.8.0 recoil.

Doing the same test with the pb pistol, the iron sights meet the bottom of the metal beam below the ceiling perfectly. The pb pistol is also much easier to control when spamming compared to last time.

as others have mentioned, recoil crank in the hideout is pretty insane in 1.8.0.

in-raid, recoil is a bit better.

high recoil persists after deleting BepInEx\config\com.pein.camerarecoilmod.cfg.

1.7.2 recoil in hideout is normal.

what are the recoil stats on that weapon, guessing its modded? does this happen with any other weapon?

vertocal ecoil is 90, horizontal is 220. Mk47 with vanilla weapon mods.

high recoil also happens with every other gun, pistols, ARs, SMGs, etc. a AS VAL with vanilla attachments and 50 vertical recoil also does this. 167 horizontal.

id like to say that i did pretty extensive testing of 1.8.0 before pushing it out. if changing the real recoil settings doesnt help then ill be able to test everything in a couple of days.
