Set of Presets for the SPT Mod Hephaestus

I don’t like the Gunsmith questline and consider it brain-dead tedium.

I also don’t want to spend my time learning how to mod SPT.

So buying a finished weapon from the preset merchant and just handing it over is much more convenient.

Requirements

  • Hephaestus – Go praise the author over there — all I did was shuffle some JSONs around and turned them into presets.
  • SPT 4

Installation

Just to be sure — yes, you need to install the Hephaestus mod first (link above).

Then it is just simple drag and drop — like any other mod.

Included Presets

MECHANIC

  • Gunsmith questline – Don’t forget to fold the AKSU!

PRAPOR

  • Test Drive questline – Mainly for convenience; the presets use the exact guns you receive when accepting the quest.

  • Hell on Earth quest – Included for good measure.

Troubleshooting

No idea — it should work out of the box.
If Hephaestus does not have new guns for sale, check the file paths.
For example, if the mod folder is renamed for any reason in the future, you may need to move the files manually to their correct destination.

They report me that it breaks their profile. By a 99% chance it is due to the loading order. It seems to load before Hephaestus. So as load priority make it [Injectable(TypePriority = OnLoadOrder.PostSptModLoader + 2)]

I’m pretty sure I can’t do that - this is not a “real” mod, there are literally only two json files with presets, so there is nothing to set, loading is handled by Hephaestus.

Does this mod removes my already existing presets on hephaestus?

If you made your presets persistent via saving into json file AND said file has same name as my presets, then your files will be overwritten.

would be cool if the presets are ordered by trader level, for example: your presets: hephaestus lvl 1, gunsmiths lvl 2, test drives lvl 3 and so on, is it something you can do or it depends on the original mod?

AFAIK, the original mod doesn’t have such a capability — so I can’t do it either.

I had one job…

Anyway, I removed this gun completely because Tony seems to be broken at the moment and doesn’t accept any of my builds.

Or maybe I just suck at gunmaking

To be fair I think the numbers for the quest in the mod are actually unobtainable with an AKM, I certainly can’t get recoil that low. I just use a skipper to skip that quest.

ty for making this when i seen the gunsmith trader was not updated i was dreading doing all the gs task so this is a huge help for someone like me who play this game casually

Well i’m not on 3.11. But someone said all you need to do is change json version.

“open “package.json” with notepad. Then change the “sptVersion”: “~3.11.2” to the current version you are playing. (In my case its version ~3.11.2).

i am on 3.11.3 and it working fine every once in a while you have to refresh his store but it works completely fine for me as is and i am on 3.1.1.3 going by the launcher beside my name

I agree that Gunsmith is tedious, boring, and sometimes making a gun that no one would use….which then makes the lore behind those guns that you get from mechanic some random nonsense. In his defense, I think he says a much a few times.

Anyways. Thanks for this mod. The one most know about is out of date and the modder hasn’t touched it in a while.
