Dynamically change the resolution of the external image rendering when we enter the optical sight, which gives us an increase in frame rate
What this mod does
Escape from Tarkov uses “picture in picture” (PiP) to render weapon scopes. This means the game’s engine has to render the entire scene twice. Once for your main screen and a second time inside the scope’s view. This is very demanding on system performance and often causes significant FPS drops. This mod changes rendering resolution of main screen when using scopes which can boost performance.

Installation

How to change settings
Press F12 in game and find this mod in mode menu.

Here you can change settings
Sampling downgrade changes resolution with TAA enabled(no FSR/DLSS).
0 - no change 25 - 75% of default resolution 50 - 50% of default resolution 75 - 25% of default resolution 100 - 0% of default resolution (dont use it)
50% TAA example

80% TAA example

FSR/DLSS settings changes FSR/DLSS preset of external image when scoped. Preset in game settings sets for image in scope.
Setting this same as your game settings does nothing(this is why black flickers disappear)
Known bugs
-
Black flickering when ADSing with FSR/DLSS enabled. Dont know how to fix this. Only solution is to use TAA instead of FSR/DLSS. On my PC setup it changes nothing because of CPU bottleneck.
-
Black strips/flickering black screen using TAA. Not so often but can happen. Try changing settings in game and mod menu and it go away.

The mod causes flickering when aiming
So that explains it, I thought it had to do with my fov. Thanks bro.
3.10.x pls T_T
Using this mod with Eye Relief Tweak unfortunately causes flickering when ADSing.

just wanted to let you know when using this mod, it causes a flicker on woods (only woods haven’t noticed it anywhere else). When scoping, it flickers distant grass textures (grass / textures disappear for literally a millisecond lol).
FSR 2.2 = off
FSR 3.0 = off
Native - no sampling
TAA= Standard
Tested on a RX7800XT - medium textures. All the “proper” settings for optimization.
100% this mod (nothing conflicting), I simply had mod enabled tested, then disabled via bepinex and once disabled, flickering stopped.
Other than that, great work on this mod! Definitely reduces choppy frame dips when scoping in!!
Thank you for your impressive work and hope you find the feedback useful
When I use this mod I get sporadic black flickering in my surrounding textures. This is *not* connected to me aiming, it’s something different. I can sit still and do nothing, and occasionally all textures flicker to black for a split-second.
I do have Amand’s Graphics installed, but I am not using SurroundDOF or Motion Blur. I do not use any FSR or DLSS. I use TFAA (also tested TFAA High) AA.
It feels like something the bots do triggers the flicker, but I can’t tell what, and it’s really sporadic, like once every few minutes and then sometimes nothing for 20 minutes. It’s really weird, but it started only after installing this mod, so I am positive it’s this. But how, no idea. Any ideas?
If your game has DLSS enabled, you need to set the DLSS settings of the MOD to match it. This will solve the problem of the screen going black when aiming.
Odd. Thought it is a “fix” for fps dropping catastrophically when aiming down scopes (PC has ancient GPU, but good CPU). But after installing the mod, not only there is seemingly no change to fps at all, but now every time I aim, screen becomes black for a split second, as if I was blinking. Maybe I did something wrong, but had to deinstall the mod
any fix for the black screen bug ? i have fov and reshade mods
