VisorEffectManager

Allows you to customize and remove visual effects from face protection visors. Inspired by Clean Face Shields (author penguingreentea)

Features

  • Individual Control: Enable or disable each visor effect separately

Controllable Effects

You can individually remove the following visor effects:

  1. Glass Damage - Removes damage texture from visors
  2. Scratches - Removes scratches texture from visors
  3. Blur - Removes blur effect from visors
  4. Distortion - Removes distortion effect from visors

Installation

  1. Download the latest release
  2. Extract VisorEffectManager.dll to your BepInEx/plugins/ folder
  3. Start your SPT server

Install Plugin

In-Game Configuration

The plugin creates a configuration file automatically at:

BepInEx/config/com.jero.visoreffectmanager.cfg

You can edit this file directly or use the BepInEx Configuration Manager to adjust settings in-game:

  1. Press F12 in-game to open the BepInEx Configuration Manager
  2. Navigate to VisorEffectManagerFace Shield Settings
  3. Toggle each effect on/off as desired:
    • true = Effect removed (visor is cleaner)
    • false = Effect enabled (default game behavior)
  4. Configurable keybind, default RIGHT CTRL+[1,2,3,4]

Changes will be applied when you cover or uncover the visor, when the helmet is equipped, or when entering a new incursion.

Notes

  • All settings default to true (effects removed) for a cleaner visor experience
  • Settings persist between game sessions

When updating to a new release, to avoid potential problems, delete any com.jero.VisorEffectManager.cfg or com.jero.visoreffectmanager.cfg files from the [SPT Folder]/BepInEx/config/ folder.

You just need to add more checks for the helmet/visors state changes. Also should mention that people need to delete old configs and have the new one generate on first run with update. As that was causing some problems.

I haven’t had a chance to test it but will have a friend test it. Please look at fixing the actual visor removal or simply just have a button to remove all.

Does this only affect visors or does it affect things like killa/tagilla/altyn faceshields as well? or will it just affect the glass on the tagilla/altyn faceshields but not the blocked out parts

The mod only affects the glass of the visors; that dark border is not altered (I have already tried to implement this functionality to remove the dark border, but without success)

It might be that my method is wrong, but even after installing this mod, there is no change.

Toggle and untoggle them in the F12 menu while wearing the Altyn or whatever in raid.

I was mistaken; I thought that using visors like Altyn wouldn’t narrow the field of vision.

No no, it only removes scratches, filters, hit marks and the mask filter. There’s is an FOV mod out there. But I think it’s only 3.11 atm.

I liked your mod and would like to suggest an addition - to make it possible to remove breathing. Is it possible to do this?

Yes this is possible. There was a mod that did it in 3.10/3.8.3 SPT. Just hasnt been updated.

The breathing is so annoying. Realistic, but often too loud.

The logs tell me that each thing is enabled and everything seems fine, yet I have to re-enable things again once I enter raid. It also seem like it resets mid raid too. I can’t pinpoint when since it’s random. But just now a few minutes ago I got blasted by Reshala’s guard, and noticed that after that the filter had been removed. I re-enabled it again once I dealt with Reshala.

Latest version, Spt 4.0.3, no Fika and no other mods that change mask or visuals.

Okay, thanks for letting me know! I’ll run some tests and might have to change how I apply the texture; a new release should come out sometime between today and tomorrow.

Sorry, should’ve said as well that it’s only the mask texture. Or at least initially since my bots go for center mass. I have not received a headshot yet and can’t speak on the cracks on the Altyn mask for the time being.

A hotkey sounds like the best option ngl, you know, because there will always be those that prefer the arcade approach in dealing with mask filters. I myself prefer realism, but for the sake of seeing something, I’d rather turn it off. It’s enough that the world is punishing, why make it even more by removing 70% of the screen.

Additionally if you’re up for it, perhaps make a folder including all masks filters as in the pngs or jpgs and give people an option to customise them. I can see myself have a slight blackness around the border of the screen, so it still feels like you’re cramped into a heavy duty helmet. I know other mods that includes custom masks or nvgs have the same thing. I used to edit Borkel’s nvgs because I very much don’t want circles on the screen.

For anyone having issues and needing to re-enable settings through the BepInEx menu (F12): I just released version 1.0.1. I added some extra checks and also some diagnostic logs to help with troubleshooting. You can check the log at:

[SPT Folder]/BepInEx/LogOutput.log

Search for the term “VisorEffectManager” and please report it by opening an issue on GitHub: https://github.com/silviohmartins/VisorEffectManager/issues

Settings need to be toggled via F12 menu each time you go into raid or flip up/down visor or helmet and put it back on.. I’d like to not have my friends even touch the F12 menu if you can fix this :)

Hi, that’s strange, I did about 10 or more test runs and it didn’t happen to me, I don’t even need to touch the settings, because the mod activates by default. Just out of curiosity, are you using FIKA? But anyway, when I get home I’ll analyze it and see if I find anything “problematic”.

Yes I use FIKA. People play non FIKA SPT? Wild.

I don’t play with FIKA, but I did a test install and didn’t have any issues with VisorEffectManager. Everything worked without needing to re-enable the features when swapping gear or starting a new raid. Hope the new version fixed the problem you were running into.
