Updating from an older version?

QCAdjustments

Tired of grinding through Tarkov’s quests? QCAdjustments lets you customize quest conditions for a smoother or more challenging experience. Adjust conditions for CounterCreator, FindItem, HandoverItem, LeaveItemAtLocation, and SellItemToTrader quests. The mod also offers tweaks for the Gunsmith quest line, allowing you to add kill requirements or replace the weapon turn-in condition with a kill task.

This mod doesn’t remove quest conditions entirely—the minimum value is 1—so you can fine-tune difficulty without breaking the game’s progression.

Compatibility

  • Works with existing profiles, but creating a backup beforehand is recommended.
  • Works with quests added and/or adjusted using Virtual’s Custom Quest Loader (~3.11)
  • Gunsmith Tweaks is confirmed compatible. Other Gunsmith-related mods are untested. (~3.11)

Installation

  1. Download the latest mod release.
  2. Extract the contents of the archive into your SPT directory or manually drag the user folder into the SPT directory.
  3. Edit the config found in SPT/user/mods/qcadjustments/config.json to your preferences.

Updating

  • See release notes for version specific updating instructions.

Issues

While extensively tested, bugs may still occur. If you encounter any issues, please leave a comment or open an issue on GitHub.

Configuration

All values in the config file must be greater than 0. If set to 0, the defaults will be used.

Kill Targets

This section allows you to change the targets for kill quests. It will not target any quests involving Rogues, Raiders, or Scav Bosses. The default values will retain vanilla kill targets on quests. Note: This will NOT change the task text. If you change all Bear quests to Any, the task will still say Bear PMCs, but any kill will count. As an aside that has made testing this very difficult, so please let me know of any issues you find and I will do my best to solve them as quickly as possible.

  • any (Default: Any)
  • any_pmc (Default: AnyPmc)
  • bear (Default: Bear)
  • scavs (Default: Savage)
  • usec (Default: Usec)

Task Multipliers

Adjust the total amounts for quest conditions. Lower values mean easier tasks.

  • counter (Default: 0.5)
    Progress tracked by actions (e.g., kills, shots on specific body parts, etc.).
  • find_handover (Default: 0.5)
    Tasks requiring you to find items in raid and hand them over.
  • leave_at (Default: 0.5)
    Tasks where you must stash an item at a specific location.
  • sell (Default: 0.5)
    Tasks that require selling items to traders.
  • timer (Default: 0.5)
    The time spent placing or stashing an item at a location.
  • xp (Default: 1.0)
    The experience rewarded by quests.

Gunsmith Adjustments

Customize the Gunsmith quest line with new conditions:

  • enabled (Default: false)
    Enables Gunsmith adjustments, adding a kill requirement.
  • replace_task (Default: false)
    Replaces the handover condition with a kill requirement.
  • kills (Default: 10)
    Number of kills required. This value is not affected by Task Multipliers.

Quest Blacklist(Optional)

  • quest_blacklist (Default: [])
    A list of quest names to skip when applying changes. Example: [“Regulated Materials”, “Gunsmith - Part 6”]

  • Added ability to change kill targets that aren’t bosses, Raiders, or Rogues. This does not change the localized text.

Due to the fact that this does not change the localized text on quests, testing this has been very difficult. If you run into ANY issues please don’t hesitate to check and open an issue on GitHub.

Updating from an older version?

Your previous config will not work with this latest update! There is a new field added to the config “kill_targets”. I recommend making a copy of your current config and pasting those values into the new config. Again, your previous config will not work with this latest update!

Hello, thank you for your feedback! Since this quest is easier to complete without mods, I initially didn’t add it, but I’ll be adding it in the future. As for the other quest conditions, could you give some examples? Some quests are quite grindy, like Drip Out parts 1 and 2, and can’t really be avoided without the use of the Skipper mod.

Thank you for the clarification! I wanted to maintain the original feel of the quests while making them more accessible, so my focus has been on adjusting the difficulty in ways that do not alter intent. That being said, I’m considering a tool in the future that would allow for more customization, including things like distance adjustments or changing the weapons of a quest.

Great mod! The only drawback is that it modifies the unique quest parameters like discovering the location or handing over a unique quest item.

Could you elaborate more on that? Do you have any quest names I could take a look at? This will touch any quests with a CounterCreator(Kills, shots on limb, etc.), FindItem, HandoverItem, LeaveItemAtLocation, and SellItemToTrader conditions, no other completion conditions should be adjusted.

Edit: I just took a quick look through the quests.json and couldn’t find any VisitPlace completion conditions with a value greater than 1. I just checked on a dev profile as well and all the condition seem to be correct. This will adjust every quest condition that matches those types, but it won’t remove any.

Thanks for coming back to me. So I have set these task_multipliers“:

“counter”: 2.0,

“find_handover”: 2.0

And I noticed straight away that this has doubled the requirement to visit the emercom station twice in the very first Therapist quest “First in Line”. Not a big deal, but I suppose this will also double all similar tasks like these, e.g. find quest items, discover locations, etc…

Ideally, I would like to double the requirements for all quest kills, items, etc - but keep specific location visits and similar “special” tasks to vanilla.

On a side note, could you consider extending functionality to repeatable/daily quests? I would love to have the option to eliminate the daily quest cooldown timer and get a new one upon completion.

I’ll take a look, but that may be outside the scope of the mod. However it seems doable. If that is the case then I’ll see about making a new mod or adding it to this one.

Thanks a lot! The daily quest cooldown timer has always bugged me, I find it absolutely useless and frustrating in the offline game.

Hello, cool mod! I see the values are set to 0.5 for task multipliers, does that mean that it half’s the requirements for all the quests? If I do not want handover quests to change for example, should I set the value to 1? Thank and looking forward to trying out the mod!

I think I answered my own question. Setting it to 1 means no changes.

I’m not quite sure what you mean. This doesn’t allow you to change what weapons or stats are involved in the Gunsmith or other quest lines, just the quantities of each quest type. You might be interested in something like the Quest Randomizer mod?

What I mean is, quests that need me to get kills with guns, to change them to be pistols, or specific pistols.

Nothing lets me do that yet sadly

It really sounds like the Quest Randomizer mod is what you’re looking for. You can do a variety of things with it but one of the bullet points is

  • Add/Randomize the required weapons. Using both a bunch of tailor-made categories, and individual weapons.

I have not tested it with that mod, but looking through its README it looks like it should work. This doesn’t add or remove any quest conditions except for Gunsmith, and that feature can be disabled. As long as this one loads after Quest Randomizer I don’t see any reason why they shouldn’t work together.
