An updated and overhauled version of RaiRaiTheRaichu’s Backdoor Bandit mod

Usage:

  • You need to add both WEAPONS and AMMO into the list in order for them to work.
  • WEAPONS go into various weaponList
  • AMMO go in whitelistedRounds list
  • blacklistedRooms will block all rounds.
  • C4 will breach ALL doors

I love this mod, as it allows for some role playing with breacher rounds.

Sadly, the mod now requires FIKA (it’s “baked in” and something that some users will probably never use), it requires the user to fill in the blanks regarding what weapons/ammo will be used that the previous version had done from the start, and Win Defender alerts it as a trojan.

No thanks. Too many red flags for me to use this mod again.

Fika will be soft dependency in the next version.

If you actually open and read the config I’ve already included some default settings, also read the mod page.

For Win Defender nothing I can do about it. Read one of the comment below. You can compile from my source code, nothing’s stopping you.

its a new file. this is almost ALWAYS what happens with new files. Common knowledge in the modding community.

I did read the mod page and the first things you have are instructions on what the user must do regarding weapons and ammo. Things the previous version had already done on its own by the modder.

FIKA being a hard dependency at all is another problem. Why it was to begin with, we as users don’t know and thus why we mentioned it.

I’ve never had Win Defender pop up for any mod I’ve used. Ever. So saying “it’s a new file” or “Read one of the comment below. You can compile from my source code, nothing’s stopping you.” feels like an excuse for whatever coding that’s causing it.

Because I’m a shit programmer and modder, which caused Fika being a hard dependency (not anymore in next version) and Win Defender freaked out.

But hey, the reason I do this in the first place is to port this awesome mod so I can enjoy it with my friends. I felt like sharing it with everyone because I’m nice enough to do so. 🤙

You need to work out why windows is treating it as a virus. no matter what browser I use, it always blocks the download and there is no way for me to get around it.

Edit: I see now why it’s blocked. windows defender is treating it like its a trojan. yeah no. not gonna download this.

P/S: Defender flagged it as trojan because my mod

  1. Reads from files (reading configs)
  2. Make web request (requesting configs from server)
  3. Patching function calls (duh, cuz it’s a mod)

It’s a generic hit that happens with some dll’s from many mods, including those from Nexus who runs their own checks. It is 100% safe in regards of the average user downloading and using the affected mod. But generally, you have the right mindset and should for the most part trust Windows Defender. If you did compile it yourself, verified that it has nothing harmful, and build the mod, it will give out trojan errors as well. It’s just something that happens with some files. Luckily Microsoft has a function to upload files to them so they can roll out a patch for Windows Defender.

Hit me up and I’ll provide the ID’s for you, I can even send the config with the allowed weapons you want. It’s not a hassle at all. Vanilla I believe it comes with a fair amount of options that coincide with realistic choices.

To be honest I think all weapons would be great, and also shotgun breaching rounds back would be nice too, I think it a bit of an overkill to have to use pound of C4 to breach the door, previous version was great in my view, not to criticize the remake but I liked the pleb mode, breach rounds and even ordinary rounds would do the job too. or a nades nearby would shatter the wooden door was cool too.

You can still use pleb mode if you want all weapons to breach doors, I never removed the feature. The config.json is there for customized experience.

Sorry maybe it’s just me but it ain’t working, tried fair amount of shotguns and different types of ammo but it does not breach the door

Maybe you have another mod that interferes with this because I too can’t use BB in either 4.0.4 or 3.11.4. It simply doesn’t work for me in any version of SPT. Don’t know which mod though and I’m not pressed about it.

If you use the default config, only certain types of really rare slugs can breach doors. (12/70 AP Slug came to mind)

I’ll post the defaults in the mod description later.

I partially concur here with the exception that 3.11.4 worked perfectly fine 4.0.4 did not at all, went  with AP-20 slugs and C4 slugs didn’t work and I couldn’t plant the C4 either.

Send logs. I tested before and it works, so might be mod conflict or bugs on your end.

If you are worried then go look at the source code on Github and compile your own version. Or not download this mod.

I can’t control that. Go into Windows Security and allow/restore the files then you can download like normal.

I love this mod since I have terrible luck finding keys, but it’s been causing issues. Whenever I try to load into a game, it gets stuck loading forever. It gets to “singleplayer/moddedTraders” then the code stops. Whenever I remove the mod, the game works once again. I tried removing a few other mods that might have affected it, but no luck

(Edit - It seems it’s searching for Fika.Core which I don’t have installed)

Ok, it was Fika. I installed Project Fika (but not the server) and the game worked and loaded Backdoor Bandit. You might want to add it as a requirement or try remove the code that causes Backdoor Bandit to depend on Fika

I only noticed WTT - CommonLib as a requirement. I didn’t notice the FIKA requirement in the download description as I did a quick download through Dragon Den Mod Manager
